Hope Doesn’t Wait for Sunshine

On a grey, rainy day in New York, I stood in front of a huge red sculpture spelling out one word: HOPE. Everyone else was hurrying past with umbrellas, and the letters were glowing red against the wet streets. That's what stayed with me. Hope didn't need good weather. It was there in the rain, bold and unmissable, with the O tilted slightly off balance. In therapy, I often meet people who think hope means feeling positive, and when anxiety or low mood takes that feeling away, they assume hope has gone too. But hope isn't a feeling we wait for. It's a quiet decision to take one small step even when we can't yet see the whole path. Hope looks like booking the appointment, answering the message, or going for the five-minute walk. It looks like speaking to yourself with the kindness you'd offer a friend. It doesn't need certainty, just a willingness to believe that things can shift, and that you're allowed to be unfinished and still deserve support. Maybe the tilted O is the real lesson: hope doesn't have to be perfectly balanced to stand tall. If you're in a season that feels grey, you don't have to find hope on your own. Sometimes it starts with someone else holding it for you until you can hold it yourself. https://betweenustherapyandcoaching.com/ #Hope #Therapy #CBT #Anxiety #MentalHealth #Coaching #BetweenUs
